Drew’s Story - Grounded in Coffee

Drew Wynne is remembered for his quick wit, booming voice, and incredible smile. When he cared about something, he gave it his full heart. Nowhere was that clearer than in his dedication to founding and growing Riptide Coffee.

In 2014, Drew and his business partner, Jimmy, went all in on their dream of building a cold brew coffee company. After months of trial, error, and patience, they created a product they were truly proud of. Drew immersed himself in every part of the process: studying bean origins, dialing in roast profiles, and learning the science behind what made a great cup of cold brew. He wanted to understand the craft from seed to sip.

They started by selling cold brew at the Charleston farmers market, then quickly expanded to local tech companies and cafes throughout Charleston, SC. Like many entrepreneurs, Drew and Jimmy were largely self-funded, and early capital was hard to come by. But a connection with a local businessman who believed in their product and their plan changed everything. His angel investment gave Riptide the fuel it needed to become a real, sustainable business.

In honor of our son, brother, and friend, the Drew Wynne Foundation pays it forward. We believe there is no greater legacy for Drew than giving others the same kind of opportunity — the chance to pursue their passions and reach their potential.
